MEQP-1A – Analog Tube Equalizer

The MEQP-1A is 1:1 replica of the most beloved Tube Equalizer in the world, the Pultec EQP-1A. It also features the mid band of the famous Pultec MEQ-5 featuring both boost and attenuation control into a single unit.

After retiring the EQP-1A MK1 in 2019 we spent 3 years developing new custom-made input, inter-stage and output transformers as well as circuit improvements to bring these vintage Pultecs back to life and sound as close as possible and we succeeded.

The MEQP-1A uses three Sowter Audio transformers made in the UK and three Tubes including a 6X4 tube on the power supply famous for its “sag” on these units. Sowter transformers, though expensive, far exceed any other offering when it comes to low end, sonic timbre and the unique frequency response that faithfully reproduce the tone of a vintage unit.

While working on it we decided to add the famous mid band section of the MEQ-5 making this a two in one unit allowing you the possibility to both boost or cut mid frequencies at the flip of a switch.
